I refereed a game tonight. It was a U8 game. Pay was $17 for an hours work, and I had to drive the boys to their practices anyways.
The game was at 6 and practices went from 6:30 - 8:00 so I had some time after the game was over. I was going to go sit in the van because of the mosquitoes, but I noticed one of the trash cans was full. So I went over and pulled the bag out and dragged it to the dumpster.
I went to the equipment barn and got a handful of trash bags, figuring there were probably more cans that needed dumping. By the time I was done I had emptied no less than 8 trash cans.
This job included fighting off bees that had been attracted to the trash, including one particularly ornery group at a trash can near the parking lot.
One of the coaches saw me and asked, jokingly, "Is there anything you won't do for this league?"
I'm not sure whose job it is to empty the trash, but I had some free time and I was glad to be able to "pitch in."
